Having a deficit-attitude of our students skews the perception of what we think and expect them to do. Instead of saying "they can't” what if we said, “not yet.” Instead of saying “what's wrong with them?” what if we said, “what can I do to build on their existing strengths?”

Imagine a world where we asked kids what they learned during the pandemic, instead of assessing them on what some disconnected, profit-obsessed testing companies THINK they should have learned.
