It voted to join Argentina in 1825; Argentina fought Brazil to keep it. It's independent because Britain wanted a buffer, lol. Britain is always somehow involved...

Le altre due stelle sono le vittorie olimpiche (1924 - 1928) che la federazione uruguaiana considera come se fossero dei mondiali visto che all’epoca non esisteva ancora un torneo calcistico planetario (il primo mondiale si gioca nel 1930). Ufficialmente l’Uruguay ha vinto due mondiali ma la FIFA permette loro di mettere sulla maglia le due stelle per le vittorie olimpiche.
