Trump and Republicans are calling this a “Democratic shutdown.” That’s absurd. They control the House. They control the Senate. They write the bills, they set the agenda, they hold the gavels. Blaming Democrats is like burning down your own house and then accusing the neighbor of starting the fire. The truth is, the majority party owns the process — and if the government shuts down, they own that too. But here’s the twist: they thrive on the chaos. The dysfunction isn’t a bug, it’s the feature. Breaking government gives them something to point at, campaign on, and use as proof that “Washington doesn’t work” — conveniently leaving out that they’re the ones holding the matches.

We should be ashamed of ourselves, but instead a majority of Texans keep electing leaders that would rather throw their elderly mother on the street than house her.
