Press Release: APR and Wrongful Dismissal at NTN Bearing Corporation After more than 15 years of service with bearing manufacturing company NTN, Amjad Ramadan was fired for expressing concern for his people as they endured a genocide. Amjad’s dismissal wasn’t based on his job performance—in previous years, he had been recognized for his service as employee of the year. His dismissal was based on his interactions with colleagues as he sought to raise awareness of the genocide in Gaza, and a malicious doxxing campaign which framed Amjad’s participation in peaceful demonstrations as antisemitic and glorifying terror. The Centre stands by Amjad Ramadan. We will ensure that anti-Palestinian workplace discrimination does not go unchallenged in Canada. Full press release: lcpal.ca/insights-and-u…

Introducing our next speaker for this evening's Legal Activism from Coast to Coast panel: Me Pierre-Luc Bouchard started the Refugee Centre Legal clinic in 2017 with one clear objective: law should serve people, not systems. While helping asylum seekers and people without immigration statuses, Me Pierre-Luc Bouchard worked on several cases regarding the mobilization around Palestine, such as the Palestinian encampment at McGill in 2024, the injunctions against SPHR at McGill, the Class action against the Concordia Student Union and Concordia, and many more.  Me Pierre-Luc Bouchard credits the ACLU and the Southern Poverty Law Center's history of lawyers who fought for Black Americans during segregation as inspiring him to pursue a similar model. Join us this evening for a discussion with 4 incredible legal activists practicing in the provinces of British Columbia, Quebec, Ontario, and Nova Scotia. Today, we mark 78 years of ongoing Nakba. The mass displacement of Palestinians from their homeland in 1948 continues apace today, while the most powerful governments around the world do nothing to stop it and indeed even support the erasure of Palestinians. We acknowledge the incredible resilience and steadfastness of the Palestinian people in the face of continued struggle: A people who refuse to be erased despite their very existence being made a crime. The memory of those lost fuels the Centre’s work. Alongside our community, we commit to continue this struggle until Palestinians everywhere can live freely, express themselves without fear, and enjoy the human rights afforded to all human beings.

We're putting employers on notice—anti-Palestinian racism will not be tolerated. Your support is needed now to support Amjad's case and launch more cases fighting APR. Together, we can challenge the systems that uphold anti-Palestinian racism and allow it to perpetuate. Donate to the Centre at lcpal.ca/donate Video by Monty Langford

The path exists. The decision doesn't. Palestinian students have done everything right — accepted, prepared, ready to learn. Canada has acted before. Minister @LenaMetlegeDiab and the IRCC must act now. Call & Email your MP — link in bio.

This Palestinian Prisoners' Day, we are reminded of the more than 9,000 Palestinians held in Israeli detention, subjected to torture and neglect without reprieve, and governed by an apartheid legal regime that applies its worst measures only to Palestinians. Many are held without due process, in a system with a conviction rate exceeding 99% for Palestinians. These facts alone should alarm any country with material ties to Israel. Yet they are rarely acknowledged by the Canadian government, even in its limited expressions of concern over Israel’s actions. As with the genocide in Gaza, acknowledging the plight of Palestinian prisoners would require Canada to abandon the politically convenient illusion of Israel as a democratic partner. Alongside a brave and tenacious global movement, our Centre is working to expand what is possible in Canada and beyond. Together, we are challenging a long-standing status quo that treats Palestinian lives as less valuable and permits the arbitrary deprivation of their freedom and justice.

#PalestinianPrisonersDay: Over 9,600 Palestinians are currently held in Israeli occupation prisons, inc. 350 children, 84 women & 3,500 without charge or trial. 🔴 At least 89 detainees have been killed in Israeli custody since 10/23, but the real figure is likely much higher:

Peel Palestinian Families filed a human rights claim against the Peel District School Board and the provincial government when the school board removed Nakba Day from its Days of Remembrance calendar. The complaint has overcome various obstacles put in it’s way at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario. First, the Centre’s advisors successfully intervened for the recusal of an adjudicator on the claim, after the adjudicator’s public support for Israel put their neutrality into question. Then, PDSB and the provincial government attempted to have the claim dismissed on jurisdictional grounds. However, the tribunal has informed all parties that the complaint will move forward. The Legal Centre for Palestine is proud to support Peel Palestinian Families as they push back against the erasure of Palestinian identity at the PDSB.
