@Melterialsgal @AltAcChats So much truth in your words, but so many gaps when I look into how (especially here, southern EU) professors do not train, nor put value into their PhD dstudents' paths.. and most of these are isolated and frustrated papers reader while filling professors' daily tasks.

@raulpacheco And I'd say who is not under stress and prioritizing work before tenure is either an exception, or because as many collegues I have in italy/Spain they have the tenure granted because of friendship with seniors.. not productivity

That's the point I am making, Rebecca. We should *NOT* have to sacrifice. The existence of those barriers, and the difficulties we encounter DO count as sacrifice. Also, we ought to recognise the heterogeneity that exists in individual circumstances. On average, it IS very hard.

Nothing is more resilient than Italians (corruption and inefficiency).. Finally out this paper discussing how in Italy even when we plan in advance how to better manage temporary housing.. see the abstract #resilience #disaster
Giuseppe Forino@G_leipheimer

Chiara Oggioni and @LChelleri asked for my contribution to a paper on the (expected) failure of temporary #housing provision after #earthquakes in Central #Italy (2016-2017). The paper is finally online open-access in Italian Journal of Planning Practice tinyurl.com/y2gxojdr

@LChelleri you might find this article as interesting as I did on moving capitals: citylab.com/equity/2017/04… Makes me think has someone put together a world view on countries changing capital over time? It's maybe not as unusual as one might think

@LChelleri Are you sure? Resilience thinking should think in long-term solutions. That solution will provoke the same problems when people continues going by cars to the new city-centre. Marmot's day??
