@conorsen Larry Johnson's 4 point shot was basically the last time I was a Knicks fan

Pretty surreal that a bunch of people I’ve known on here for a long time have been waiting for this since they were my daughter’s age.

I’m out on left wing Nazis and islamo-socialists running for senate as Dems, and I’ll be completely out on anyone running for president from the left wing of the party or who bends the knee to Warren I’ll take some mix of corpo-fascism from the right over that

As a supporter of the Democrats, I freely acknowledge that the Democrats have gotten much worse over the past decade. But the Republicans have gotten worse far faster, and they started off worse to begin with. So you should still be a Democrat. noahpinion.blog/p/are-you-tire…

I heard an ad on a podcast today that basically said “come get an AI proof job as an electrician, we will train you at (vocational school)” and then they laid on the AI fear THICK Hard to blame em, probably a really effective ad

I love how economists have an unofficial “ways to destroy a city” ranking that approximately goes: 1) zoning, 2) bombing, 3) rent control.

@conorsen @JBSDC Theoretically I’d want the AI to diligence each, all their reviews, and negotiate I think people are underrating how much AI should theoretically be sitting between you and any service provider

@LDrogen @JBSDC Let’s say you want to do a $200k home renovation. Are you going to let the algo pick your contractor or will you want to first talk to them?

@LDrogen @JBSDC How will Microsoft decide who their next CEO is? How will big conferences decide who to pick for a keynote speaker? How will the Rangers pick their next head coach?

@conorsen @JBSDC I’m not sure it will be if all the gating heuristics they used to use are broken except for a warm intro from their network and thats simply not scalable enough to get shit done at scale

@JBSDC @LDrogen I buy that agents interacting with agents will be the filtering mechanism but at the end of the day the attention and blessing of elites are scarce resources and that will be a human process.

@JBSDC @conorsen @JoshuaGreen Think we have to remember that even into the 80s the percentage of people who worked in offices was much smaller than today so waste was much more acceptable from a margin perspective I think we’re just gonna fire everyone this time

@LDrogen @conorsen People read newspapers during work time and lazy lunches were common in most fields into the 80s I believe. @JoshuaGreen has written about how the existence of the tax deductible “3 martini lunch” was one of the forces behind the 1986 tax reform.

@JBSDC @LDrogen I’ve always wondered what life in offices was like pre-internet/email. Were people writing memos and on the phone all day? Playing nerf basketball?

@LDrogen @conorsen Right a lot of people are about to outsource sizable chunks of not just their writing but their reading diet to AI. The fallacy is assuming humans are doing first cut reading of their inboxes by year end. It’ll just be agents interacting with agents.

It’s simply not true that the leaders of AI companies are not clearly stating that we’re going to need some kind of UBI, they’ve said it from the very beginning, you just don’t want to listen because politically it’s hard But it’s not harder than a violent Bolshevik revolt
Disclose.tv@disclosetv

NOW - Anthropic co-founder says there is a "real possibility that AI will displace human labor at a very large scale," and that supporting those people "will be a moral imperative of historic proportions."

@JBSDC @conorsen Advice from VCs a few years ago: if you want to have your email read, here’s the exact structure you need to put it in so that I’ll read it Now: no no no but not if you’re using AI I think the world is about to get a lot smaller when all the old heuristics are wipe out by AI

@conorsen I go back & forth here, but I think it’s more likely we don’t get a binary response here but a spectrum for interpersonal elite comms - entirely ai driven email: trashed instantly - largely ai written: skim - somewhat ai written: read fast - entirely human: read word for word
