I wonder about this as well for african high fantasy in general, but children of blood and bone in particular was always promoted and depicted as a yoruba inspired fantasy specifically, imo it's natural for people to want the adaptation to reflect that

I think the issue I have with insisting African high fantasy should be based on a specific culture is that the line between high fantasy and historical fiction with can start to get blurred. How accurate are writers expected to be when the aim is creating an imagined society?
