@Corballyred Tbf on Slot, as much as I dislike the guy, that was the first position he tried to address, but diddnt get the player he wanted, Grav in the 6 last season was the best solution with what we had

This might not be popular, but it needs saying:👇 When are we having the difficult conversation about Ryan Gravenberch??? He was poor in his first season, very good for the first half of last season before his form collapsed in the second half, and he's been poor again this season. That's 2.5 out of 3 seasons where he's been crap. He's strolled around barely making a tackle this season and is the softest 6 in the Premier League. Yet we gave him a massive new contract worth nearly €300k a week. Insane, when the reality is we should’ve been prioritising a replacement for him as our 6. Look at this below, watch Gravenberch position👇 Under no circumstances can he start as our 6 next season🫢

@LenovoGuru Im a dumbass because I dont agree with your opinion and its frustrating you. Ok then, keep convincing yourself that Slot and Klopps situations are comparable, you know yourself Slot wont last here, youre trying to hard to be different and are desperate to be right

Okay cool. 1. City fell off a cliff in 19/20. Huge factor in why Klopp won the League. 2. Klopp got to play Spurs in 18/19 to win the UCL. No pressure. That shit works both ways. And that is my point. It’s easy to detract. Very easy. So if anything, BOTH coaches deserve immense credit for their respective successes. Because it’s a HUGE task. But fans like you want to detract in order to support your own cognitive biases. In layman’s terms, it’s called being a fucking dumbass.

His ‘little something’ was:- 1. Playing Trent as a half space RB after Klopp stopped doing it in 23/24, and running all the buildup through him. Klopp almost ran him as a free roaming RB, whilst Slot reinstated positional discipline but with the freedom to playmake from that side of the pitch. 2. Playing Robbo deeper than Klopp ever did. 3. Pulling an all timer in fitness and form from Konate, who was repeatedly injured before that. 4. Using Gravenberch as a 6, who got something like 1,000 minutes in 23/24. 5. Playing Gakpo LM out of possession and as an inside forward in possession. 6. Platforming Salah who had a generational season, even though he’d lost a good yard of pace. 7. Putting Diaz and Szobo as double 10s more or less to compensate for the lack of press OOP from Gakpo and Salah. 8. Winning the bloody League doing 1-7, even though the club didn’t sign anyone for him barring a geriatric from Italy who kept getting injured. Sounds like a fucking lot. And those principles were consistent all season. The reason we started to flag in March intensity wise is because he had roughly 14 odd players he could properly rely on all season, and had to overplay them in order to win the League. Arsenal have a full 22 man senior squad this year and they’re pulling players from international duty because the majority of them are goosed. It wasn’t Slot’s principles skewing away from Klopp that resulted in the squad not being ‘as good’ as they were from August till February. It was just good old fatigue. Nothing new at all.
Emlyn@LFC_EmlynTheRed

@GooalMouth I agree, I think he added a little something to a Klopp coached team. However as the pendulum has swung more away from Klopp’s principles and towards Slot’s (noticeable since March 25) there has been a steady decline (with some spikes in between).

@LenovoGuru You've lost it, at Klopps best and at Peps best there was a 1 point difference between them, Klopp schooled Pep in UCL 2019 while Pep beat him to the title. Play down the UCL like we diddnt have 1 of greatest comebacks oat on the way to winning it. I see why youre doubling down

I swear if I hear 'mitigating circumstances' one more time....
Anfield Sector@AnfieldSector

[📰] @JBurtTelegraph on Sky Sports: “With Slot, it's going to be quite clear with him. If they don't get Champions League football by winning it or by qualifying through the league, then I think he'll go.  "There are an awful lot of mitigating circumstances around that. It's been a difficult season… but I think they'll look at it very forensically and think we haven't achieved and we're not quite sure we can carry on like this. "Liverpool are saying the opposite at the moment, they're saying they fully back the manager, but the fact is, it's been made very clear they've got to qualify for the Champions League. "Listening to Arne Slot talking after the game yesterday, he talked about the importance of qualifying for the Champions League because he knows that's the situation. "It may be very tough and a bit unfair on him, considering what's happened this season, but Liverpool are going into a very big summer.  "We're looking at Richard Hughes, the sporting director, possibly going. The talk in Saudi Arabia is not going away - Liverpool are saying he's going nowhere, but he's only got one more year left on his contract as has Michael Edwards and Arne Slot.  "That makes me think, we're heading for a change of sorts. It could be at the top of the club or in the dugout and on the pitch as well there will be a lot of change. There's an awful lot in play at the moment for Liverpool and I think Slot's under a lot of pressure and he has to qualify for the Champions League."

@LenovoGuru Just pretend like our competition having poor seasons wasnt a factor at all, Slot just came in and did everything perfect, while Klopp got it all wrong on his last season, he did nothing to benefit Slot when he came in, the points are irrelevant because you say so, gotcha👍🏾

“Muscle memory” isn’t league position, it’s system execution under stress. That 3rd place finish wasn’t some badge of consistency, it already showed cracks. That “muscle memory” didn’t produce a strong finish in 23/24, so how could it suddenly exist in 24/25? Not to mention, so many fans were accusing Ljinders of locking Klopp in a basement for 22/23 and 23/24 and shadow coaching the team instead. Which btw holds water because Klopp DID delegate coaching to Ljinders. And the 84 points the following year isn’t comparable either. The league was effectively done with 4 games to spare, they were tracking ~ 91 by GW34 before easing off. More importantly, the structure wasn’t the same. The defence, press and midfield mechanics were different under Slot. The only real carryover was in attacking principles, mainly counter-pressing, which is exactly why he was hired, to smooth the transition without a full rebuild, which was needed anyway. So calling it “Klopp’s muscle memory” is just wrong. Muscle memory implies the same system being repeated. This wasn’t. It was a different structure with partial overlaps. You’re reducing everything to outcomes because it’s easier than understanding what actually changed. And it’s even funnier given Klopp’s team crashed out of the FA Cup, Europa League and EPL, with many of the same players failing then as now. Different coach. Same player issues.

@LenovoGuru Yes, that same muscle memory from the team that finished 3rd, just 2 points less than we finished the following season, which, funnily enough would have also won the league last season, so yes, that muscle memory

‘Running off Klopp’s muscle memory’. Right, the same muscle memory that had them finishing 3rd the prior year. It’s entirely possible to credit Slot for his excellent work whilst also pinpointing shortcomings he can improve on. Doing binary ‘Slot good’ or ‘Slot bad’ isn’t just lazy but factually untrue.

@LenovoGuru The 'optimal platform' was that he had a cheat code playing behind him and a team running off Klopp muscle memory, not Slots genius tactical tweaks as we all thought

YNWA-ANDY@YNWAANDY28

The last hour today was horrific, but were there many Slot out shouts in the first 40 minutes? Was it Slot who couldn't put Mo and Hugo's guilt edge chances away? Was it Slot that dived in like a clumsy idiot to give the penalty away? Just saying. The players get a pass.
