I love all things MTSS, especially creating the system in which kids can THRIVE! Building the successful MTSS system @ZCSBoone_Meadow with teacher leaders and support staff has been one of the highlights in my educational career so far!

Severe Thunderstorms with Heavy Rain Last Night! :-) At about 12:30 AM, some of the most severe thunderstorms, in terms of the loudness of the thunder and frequency of the lightning, began, and of course, I had to be weird about it. LOL So I went outside, stood on the deck, looked up at the sky, and spread my arms wide, then I spoke to the storm :-) I do not fear the storm because they cleanse you if you become conscious of it and face it head-on. We all must realize that after every storm, the sun shines once again. In all of history, there has never been a storm for which the sun did not follow. The collective of the storm and all that follows is the provocation of growth. They truly nourish you right to your roots and build such great appreciation for the light that follows. :-) Do not fear the storms. Accept them for the growth that they provide. :-)

As a mother, this mindset can be tough. Sometimes it’s just easier to “take care of it”, right? But as an educator, I know that accountability is fostered by learning from mistakes. Letting them “fail safely” leads to more growth and maturity in the long run.

Start from what the child DOES know and move along the expected continuum of learning progression to develop new skill application. Positive acknowledgment of what a child CAN DO is key!
