@BiG69LiNe @robbysoave Not even that. Her propaganda seemed aimed at Chinese people, rather than the American public. It was Chinese people arguing about the Chinese government from what I can tell.

@maxdubler Both have have randomness, and non-randomness. If your argument for risk based pricing in housing is true, then it is true for healthcare also.

Single payer healthcare makes sense because the risk of getting sick is random; so price discrimination is unfair to unlucky people. Pricing risk to homes, OTOH, is good. If you choose to buy a house in a flood plain or fire risk zone, you *should* pay higher insurance premiums!
David Dayen@ddayen

An important race affecting affordability for millions is totally off the radar. Jane Kim, candidate for California insurance commissioner, is pitching a single payer program for disaster insurance, to align insurance with homeowners. prospect.org/2026/05/14/jan…

@Cubanagabby @KeenanPeachy The city of Los Angeles is two train stations away from this spot. These people were likely in LA earlier today. You can see LA from Lake Ave.

Here in beautiful downtown Pasadena, steps away from the Rose Bowl world cup games, this is the gauntlet tourists must run to attempt to board the LA Metro at Lake Ave. I wonder how many of them Karen Bass is going to buy new teeth for

@KeenanPeachy That stop is one of the worst. You either take the piss elevator or piss stairs to enter/exit. I think that's also the station where a vagrant set a passenger on fire on the train.

"No more of these high-density, SB-79, prison-like structures." There hasn't been a single SB 79 project built yet, as the law doesn't take effect until July 1. Pratt lacks even the most basic knowledge about the policies he would be tasked with implementing as mayor.
The All-In Podcast@theallinpod

Spencer Pratt: I will empower architects and builders to make LA beautiful again. “ We're going have LA so beautiful. No more of these high-density, SB-79, prison-like structures. We need to bring Art Deco back. All the architects that moved out of here because it was so hard to build, takes eight years, they're going to be moving back, because we're going to speed up building. It's not going to take eight years. I talked to an architect today, one of the most famous architects in the world. He has a crew of 12 architects, they already did all these designs for these buildings and nobody listened to them. They met with Newsom, they met with Bass. Of course I'm like, “Let's do it, send me over the decks.” And then the YIMBY people, they can have all their bike lanes going through the sky, through tunnels. “We need LA to be the most beautiful architecture in the world.” @friedberg @spencerpratt --------------------------------------- Thanks to our partner Axon.ai for making this possible Most advertisers have never heard of the platform with an $11B annual run rate in ad spend. @heterodoxan @ShidelerK @BenWeinthal It's not. This issue is more about internal struggles in the Chinese community. Some are very anti-CCP, so the CCP tries to propagandize them. There are rumors of CCP members that buy property in Arcadia for a place to flee if necessary. That's probably true.

@ShidelerK @BenWeinthal I saw someone say yesterday that the town is a cartel hub. The Chinese national arrested in the Philippines, the former mayor of Bamban, was involved in trafficking, as well. It's their blackmarket cash flow, and, spread widely over time, probably a farm team for influence.

Ask yourself- what is the purpose of a recruiting a mayor to be an asset? It’s not for stealing secrets. We need a counterintelligence mindset that understands that our adversaries seek to subvert and supplant us, not just steal technology. Is your city or state prepared for dealing with sophisticated intelligence threats? Because that’s what they are facing.

The Democrat mayor of Arcadia, Calif. has admitted to acting as a spy for China in a plea deal. Eileen Wang worked with her fiancé to run a site at the direction of Chinese handlers, similar to what Lauren Chen was accused of doing for Russia. Those who defended Wang said the prosecution was part of "Asian hate," similar to the Democrat effort to shut down scrutiny into China during the Covid-19 pandemic. thepostmillennial.com/breaking-arcad…

Arcadia Mayor Eileen Wang has been charged with violating 18 USC 951, acting in the United States as an illegal agent of the People’s Republic of China. Wang appeared in federal court this afternoon for her arraignment. She agreed to plead guilty and resign from public office. Wang admitted to acting as a foreign agent from at least 2020 through 2022. At the direction of the PRC government, she coordinated with individuals to promote PRC interests by spreading pro-PRC propaganda in the United States. Wang faces a statutory maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison.

This tactic has long been key to Israeli propaganda: Any group or person which criticizes Israel becomes, for that reason, anti-Semitic. It's a game that ensures there can never be an "unbiased" source against Israel. Any critic is instantly transformed into a hateful bigot.
Mel@Villgecrazylady

“All of the people who were raped by Israeli soldiers in Israeli prisons are anti-Israel” Uhhh ya fcking THINK???? And OFC Wu leaves out the part where Israel refuses to allow any humanitarian groups in to see prisoners and investigate claims. Truly despicable in every way.
