Twitter PD #3! Reply answering this question... What active engagement strategy from the article will you try with your student and why? Bonus point if you include a pic of it happening in your classroom! #LetoLearns Designing Lessons for Engagement edutopia.org/article/design…

@LHSMrsRSJ @WeAreTeachers I plan on engaging my students with meaningful literacy by having them do what I know as brain dumps. When we get to a topic that should be familiar to them I ask them to write down their thoughts in their notebook so we can discuss them. Word problems are fun too. #letolearns

@LHSMrsRSJ @WeAreTeachers I will use a variety of WICOR startegies, as well as chunking the text and keeping the subject vocabulary word wall, as well as incorporate that academic vocabulary. #letolearns

@LHSMrsRSJ @WeAreTeachers I plan to incorporate meaningful literacy into my practice by allowing choice in assignment formats. For example, I will have work stations with different activities like technology, small group, and tactile to reach all learners with different learning styles. #Letolearns

@LHSMrsRSJ @WeAreTeachers I plan on useing engaging readings that explain abstract scientific concepts through the use of analogy. These will be paired with writing assignments when students have to tell a story from the POV of molecules. #letolearns

@LHSMrsRSJ @WeAreTeachers I get to use a quote by my favorite author, Flannery O’Connor: “I write because I don’t know what I think until I read what I say.” My students perform some sort of writing on just about everything they are expected to learn. #letolearns

For our first Twitter PD... how does this blog post support the work we did as a faculty during preplanning? What support might you need in this process? Don’t forget to #letolearns and tag @LHSMcCoy @LHSKleinTime and @LHSMrsRSJ in your response to earn points!
