@LHSErickBertram @WeAreTeachers The “brain dump” is a great way to get kids writing and a great way for you to assess what they know and where you need to begin your instruction! Love it!
English

@LHSMrsRSJ @WeAreTeachers I plan on engaging my students with meaningful literacy by having them do what I know as brain dumps. When we get to a topic that should be familiar to them I ask them to write down their thoughts in their notebook so we can discuss them. Word problems are fun too. #letolearns

@MrSpottsLHS @WeAreTeachers Simple reading strategies like chunking the text can make all the difference for struggling readers! Upcoming PLCs will also focus on academic vocabulary!
English

@LHSMrsRSJ @WeAreTeachers I will use a variety of WICOR startegies, as well as chunking the text and keeping the subject vocabulary word wall, as well as incorporate that academic vocabulary. #letolearns

@LetoParents @WeAreTeachers Kids thrive when they have choice! This is going to be so great for your students!
English

@LHSMrsRSJ @WeAreTeachers I plan to incorporate meaningful literacy into my practice by allowing choice in assignment formats. For example, I will have work stations with different activities like technology, small group, and tactile to reach all learners with different learning styles. #Letolearns
English

@lhscarpenter @WeAreTeachers That’s such a creative way to get kids writing! I can’t wait to see what they come up with!
English

@LHSMrsRSJ @WeAreTeachers I plan on useing engaging readings that explain abstract scientific concepts through the use of analogy. These will be paired with writing assignments when students have to tell a story from the POV of molecules. #letolearns
English

@LHSMrsRSJ @WeAreTeachers I get to use a quote by my favorite author, Flannery O’Connor: “I write because I don’t know what I think until I read what I say.” My students perform some sort of writing on just about everything they are expected to learn. #letolearns
