As a modern teacher, educators must present many opportunities to allow quiet students to shine and feel proud. Plan activities where they can shine and be recognized comfortably. It may take months, but with consistent encouragement this once quiet student will speak up one day.

Many charters accomplish amazing things and some unfortanelty do little to service our kids. I commend the teachers who work relentless hours, fill in the many roles of absentee staff, deal with classroom management and then are expected to produce proficient students.

Government gets control to pick what private schools with minimum standards get vouchers.Minorities and students in poverty usually need these services. We have to do better in meeting the academic needs of students. With high quality standards and expectations from schools.

Teacher unions have immense influence and control of American education. It goes to show how every system has two sides the good and bad. Why aren't educators ever informed of the fine print entailed with being in a union? It's like we steer away from the bigger picture, children.

Technology in the classroom will enhance and support your teaching and student learning. Be mindful, don't just add technology in a lesson just as a time filler. Integrate technology based on data and the academic needs of your learners. Tech in the classroom is a must!

Teacher unions do a great deal to protect educators and students. Sometimes, the direction of your principles isn't enough. Having an experienced union rep. to support is beneficial. Unions ease the transition of working in a school where the demands are high.

Assessments are not one size fits all, it shouldn't always be pen to paper.Give students the opportunity to assess skills using various techniques. Plan intentional, engaging, student centered checks for understandings. Make learning memorable so students can take ownership.

Mastering differentiation takes practice and confidence from, both teacher and student. There is more than just one way to present objectives and assess mastery. Develop opportunities for all learning levels to grasp concepts and ask questions with a variety of activities.

Every parent should be given the choice of what school is best suited for their child. However, school vouchers have been marketed as a savior to minority students. The real issue is that we should ALL be working together to promote equal educational opportunity for ALL!

Tax cap seems to alleviate property taxes that affect the elderly. But, how does tax cap support schools that need the most resources in education to end the cycle of poverty. Taking away funding from public education hurts teachers, students, communities and our country.

Berg is an example on how educating yourself on issues that affect you as a educator, your students and community matters. Often, as teachers we feel like we have no control of budgets or big decisions. We simply accept changes and go with the motions never asking why.

More money spent in the right way does matter. We need more money to invest in the hiring of more teachers, mental health programs, after school programs and more resources. It's a business, we must invest in students to see economic and educational growth!

Common core is mandated with very little support on resources. Educators scatter around looking for supporting material from experienced classroom teachers. Why are educators the ones who are financially investing on resources that are relevant to standards and students.

You live in a good area, your child goes to a good school. You live in an okay area your child attends an okay school. Education, funding and resources should be equal for all. I don't see education serving equity anytime soon, as nice as that idea sounds.

Can parental and community affluence, along with students who articulate themselves, influence what can and can't be said in the classroom? It is mind blowing how parents who pay these tuitions have an actual opinion, are heard and someone actually takes action.

Now, more than ever it is important to use a platform like twitter to communicate, promote community, and support. As a language teacher it's a fun way to promote organic dialogue in the target language! Taking the emphasis away from pen to paper.

Chrispin, lucky to have a teacher who embraced Common Core and maintained a growth mindset. So many times we as educators become stuck in our ways and fall into routine. Not Ms. Mathew. However, how is there ONE test for students who are different culturally and linguistically?

During a time like this how will my knowledge of various learning style be apparent when instructing my classes remotely? Am I forced to trust my students to self regulate? It is our job to design lessons that accommodates every childs need and that promotes inclusion for all!

Skills, are reading strategies that help understand the purpose of a text. If that text is irrelevant to child and no connection is made. How is that enhancing our educational system. Are curriculums and state testing made specifically for one demographic? Why the disconnect?

It is undeniable that educational inequalities exist in our country based on race. It's a norm to hear the friendly and promoting ideas politicians promise this demographic. How are we utilizing this momentum of awareness to make a change. What else must we do to be heard?
