Again, it's like, whether it was careless or whether it was intentional, I don't think it matters. Hopefully it was careless, but I think the two-shot penalty was justified for sure. "I won't pretend to be up here and defend Bryson. I'm not particularly fond of him. I think a lot of it's performative. I think a lot of it's for attention. "To hold the tournament hostage like that, and to have all of us, players, volunteers, everyone waiting on him to depart, I didn't feel like it was a great look."

For what it’s worth, I’d have no issue if a rules official went out to Bryson on hole 5 and said they determined he will be assessed a two stoke penalty.
My issue with the whole thing lies in the fact that they made a judgement call later based on an inconclusive camera angle.
Not one camera angle provided shows conclusively that the grass he stomped on was in his intended swing plane.
Not one.

If Scottie had been hit with a 2 stroke penalty then went to the range until 10:30 pm he would have been hailed as the “hardest working golfer around.” The amount of hate on @brysondech is outrageous & @chambleebrandel should be fired but the @GolfChannel & @PGATOUR are gutless.

Rory is about the most "performative" player around. at least @brysondech is honest about it.
Rory used to be the most liked payer on tour, these days most people I caddie for don't like him.

I was watching this interview with a few of the other players and as soon as he said “I think he’s performative, I think it’s all for attention” we all looked at each other and said “that didn’t look right”.
We’ll see if the R&A has the stones to enforce their own rules. Seems unlikely.
