Last night I had the pleasure of celebrating our Wilson Tech students along with the support of our Board of Education. We are so proud of our students. Thank you to Western Suffolk BOCES for hosting us!

Last week I visited Wilson Tech at Republic Airport, where one of our students, Bella, was part of a student panel that spoke about their experiences in their certified personal training program. I am proud that she has applied her experience in Commack to the real world!

By providing students the opportunity to gain real world experiences through CHS' Schools of Study, and exposing them to potential career paths, we are empowering them to test drive their futures!

Schools across New York State were given the chance to learn how Commack is preparing students to make the best decisions for their future on Monday evening at the #NYSSBA Annual Convention and Education Expo in Manhattan, with a presentation by administration and CHS students.

A few years ago I was inspired by @gcouros - enough to make a lot of substantial changes in my life. Now, in a full circle moment, he asked me to write for his weekly newsletter. If you do not follow him, now is the time! He is a true change agent! #transformativeleadership

Dr. Jordan Cox presented custodian Brandon Beatty with the Commack Star Award at Building Blocks Developmental Preschool Friday. “To say that Brandon has gone above and beyond during his time here at Building Blocks, and in Commack as a whole, is an understatement,” Dr. Cox said.

My learning from this week... When you are confident in your own experience and knowledge but humble enough to know that you can still learn and improve from the meaningful input of others, there are no limits to your growth. This is what I thought about when I worked with @CommackSchools this past week. There are so many wonderful things going on in their school district that I felt so blessed that I was able to share my own ideas and experiences, but I was open to improving on what they were already doing. I am sure, like any school district, things there aren’t perfect, but wow, they are pretty good. The best organizations I have worked with are already doing incredible things yet still strive to get better. Superintendent Dr. Jordan Cox @LI_Educator shared with me that “Above and Beyond is our Baseline,” and that is what they expect from themselves, not only in their school experience but also in how they take care of themselves outside of school. This week was a reminder of why I love what I do. To be surrounded by enthusiasm and people who want to continuously get better makes you gravitate to those traits yourself. 3 More Things I Learned This Week 1. A great routine can be constantly modified to become better. Small tweaks can lead to big results. 2. The best things in life often come with the most obstacles. Sometimes, when you are struggling in the moment, take a step back and think about what it will look like when you achieve your goals. That can be the fuel to keep going. Don’t get caught up and assume your current struggle is how it will always be. 3. With every birthday, I hope to use that day to celebrate others and let them know the impact they have had on me. As I get older, I become more grateful for those closest to me who have supported me over the years. What was your big learning this week?
