Treasury said the "primary source of income for Hossein's network is oil sales." Also of note, Mohammed Hossein Shamkhani (Hector) is the son of Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani, formerly a top political adviser to the late Supreme Leader Khamenei.

This ship is among those sanctioned by the US as part of a crackdown on a broad Iranian oil network operated by the notorious Mohammad Hossein Shamkhani, aka Hector. It is carrying 2 million barrels of Iranian crude oil, S&P Global Energy ship tracking data show.

Overnight, U.S. forces conducted a right-of-visit, maritime interdiction and boarding of the stateless sanctioned M/T Tifani without incident in the INDOPACOM area of responsibility.

As we have made clear, we will pursue global maritime enforcement efforts to disrupt illicit networks and interdict sanctioned vessels providing material support to Iran—anywhere they operate.

International waters are not a refuge for sanctioned vessels. The Department of War will continue to deny illicit actors and their vessels freedom of maneuver in the maritime domain.

Turkey is planning new gas, crude pipelines from Basra, Iraq to Turkey's Ceyhan port to serve Med export markets, Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar told me. Iraq & Turkey have reached a "principal agreement" for the project. Read it here: shorturl.at/6ithh
