@Matt_Pinner Trolley? Thats gay. But yes I take my shopping cart back to the return corrals
English

@redskin_potato @ArbbiMane @GoatRoper911 @JJWatt I understood that. But, even then, it has come to be expected regardless of service. It's rare that service is really great anymore. Most often, they're doing the minimum requirements of the job and expecting 20%+
English

@LLBourque @ArbbiMane @GoatRoper911 @JJWatt yeah I'm not a fan of tipping for counter service, I was more talking about tipping traditional waitstaff
English

Genuine question on a restaurant situation:
You walk up to a counter to order.
You find your own table and seat yourself.
If you order coffee, they hand you a cup and you go fill it up yourself.
If you order food, they hand you a buzzer and when it goes off, you go pick it up yourself.
The iPad has a “20%, 25%, 30%, Other” tip option, with 20% already preselected.
What’s your move?
English

@Bshepp87 @GoatRoper911 @JJWatt Lawmakers need to do better when it comes to minimum wages. We did away with a separate minimum wage for tipped positions. If restaurants want to incentivize great service, they should pay their staff accordingly. Raising prices a little would at least be consistent
English

@GoatRoper911 @JJWatt Restaurant owners can only decide to not pay a real wage to positions that are commonly tipped.
Servers and bartenders.
A coffee maker make a reasonable wage
English

@redskin_potato @ArbbiMane @GoatRoper911 @JJWatt But does it? Post-Covid, it has become expected everywhere. Machines are typically set up like the one in this scenario and very difficult to bypass. Tipping culture has made it just a fee the consumer is paying regardless of service. (I tip very well when the service earns it)
English

@ArbbiMane @GoatRoper911 @JJWatt At least tipping incentivizes good service. You can sit in a French café for 30 minutes, ready for the check, while your server chats with their friend and avoids eye contact.
English

@JJWatt Tipping culture needs to go away and restaurant owners need to pay a living wage.
If you get good service then leave a healthy tip but not because the owner is not paying fairly.
Your scenario just proves this problem needs to be fixed.

@cityofhamilton In this digital age, how are public health records not shared with school boards?
English

@bobrowner1776 @cityofhamilton Your reply did little more than make yourself look foolish
English

@cityofhamilton Fuck right off useless ass City of Hamilton. City couldn't run a one car funeral correctly. City has unlimited finances & resources for illegals as Hamilton is a SANCTUARY CITY.
You peasant taxpayers just don't count.
Mayor and all of city council;
Fking corrupt assholes.

@ScottErnie56892 @CTVNews You were not misled. You didn't read more than the headline.
English

@CTVNews I was mislead to believe that this happened in Canada. This happened in the United States.

@Striker0777 @CTVNews 100% agreed. I don't understand how it's legal for stores to stop accepting them The Body Shop did that when they were in trouble too
English

@CTVNews Gift cards should be considered cash. They were paid for so no way should the be allowed to be dishonoured. The comp at should simply have to go bankrupt if they canny be accepted. Cease operations.

@KaptainKaTx @Archaeologuy @townbrad People with 4WD end up in ditches here, too. Many seem to think it somehow magically transforms the rubber on their tires and helps with traction on ice.
English

@Archaeologuy @townbrad I know here in Austin, it wasn’t snow. What looked like snow was actually just 3” of solid ice. I actually went out just fine in it yesterday, but even in 4WD drive I was having traction issues. Just pure ice. Like trying to drive on an ice rink.
English

@Doug98454455 @Archaeologuy @townbrad Not a fair correlation. If they were in Canada, they'd have winter tires, salted & plowed roads, etc.
English

@Archaeologuy @townbrad If that little bit of snow fucks them up they aren't going to do so good in Canada if they come in the winter.
English

@Archaeologuy @townbrad As a fellow Canadian, I giggle at first, too.
Then, I remember that these are communities with little to no available resources, no winter tires, and no experience driving in it. Comparable to throwing a typical Canadian on an ice rink with bald tires.
English

@ivandemigoal It is funny on the surface. However, these are places with no plows, no salt trucks (or any available salt), no winter tires, etc.
They also have no experience driving in any icy conditions which makes it even more dangerous.
English

Watching people lose all ability to function over barely a centimetre of snow will never not be funny as a Canadian lmao
