And we're still failing them!! We need to step up and act!! It's too late for Shadi, but we can still help his remaining family and all the other people who are still struggling to survive this ongoing nightmare. Supporting their fundraisers is NOT nearly enough, but it's a start—and most people unfortunately don't even do this bare minimum action! About two and a half months before he was martyred, Shadi wrote: “Today I'm so tired. My mind and my body and my eyes. I cant think or focus. For many days I've had a headache and pain in my body and stomach. I said everything will be ok inshallah but wallah everything here is not ok, really really not ok. I dont want anything anymore, I want to die, me with my family, and rest from this hardship. We cant walk or do anything. Our bodies are finished. The situation here is catastrophic. I went to look at the barrels on the roof, can you believe I can't walk up the stairs? I'm so exhausted. I don't feel like myself anymore. I don't want to continue living like this. I don't want to suffer anymore. No food, no water, no life. Only pain.” Shadi died after experiencing so much pain and hardship.
