Every day I am in awe of international students. Doing a PhD in your native language and home country is hard. Doing it in a non-native language, in a different country and different culture is so much harder. You are not stupid. You are legends.

@OpenAcademics This is a good resource, but for the autism one I think 'clear' language is better than 'simple'. There's a risk of oversimplifying by cutting out words, which can make statements ambiguous (using technical rather than 'simple' language can be helpful in removing ambiguity).

Don't think that you need to be an expert to start a new project.

We just observed Earth's 6th warmest January on record. This is what it looks like when we stack all the Januarys since 1880 next to each other.

Yet I also want to raise awareness that trans people are not some new trend, and exist almost exclusively outside of controversial media stories. I guess the potential benefit outweighs the personal anxiety? 3/3

As a cis-passing, white, male oxbridge graduate I'm normally insulated from discrimination. I'm worried I'll be misconstrued as a girl who felt pressure to transition as a means of avoiding discrimination in STEM, or be asked to morally justify medial treatment I've received. 2/

@thetracysimone Give yourself at most* 10 minutes of trying to figure it out yourself before getting the technician to come and help. They're happy to help, and it makes asking for help easier in the future if you have frequent contact with them. (*it also stops you making any problems worse!)
