I was very glad to talk yesterday to @sitsio and @ChooseAgape__ about Fr James Mawdsley, the TLM, the Jews, Holocaust denial and fascism -- quite a stimulating set of issues! Thank you both for publishing the hour-long podcast video: link in reply.

‘You’ll be fine with the new lectionary. And calendar. And collects. And Offertory. Won’t you? Oh and no more preparatory prayers or Last Gospel. You cool with all that?’ How does this differ from the NO with EP1? 2/2

@LMSChairman Given that this is all progressivist politics, the question they don’t seem to be asking (yet?) is where this progresses to next? Once you’re enlightened enough to kill full grown babies, what’s the next step towards utopia on this issue?

Peers voted on party lines to an astonishing extent. Very surprising for a non-party political issue. When did abortion become a core Labour committment?
Adrian Hilton@Adrian_Hilton

The House of Lords voted to decriminalise abortion for women who terminate their own pregnancy, right up to birth. Conservatives and Bishops supported Baroness @MoncktonR's amendment to remove this provision from the Bill; Labour and LibDems opposed. Depraved, ideological evil.

@RevAndrewCarte1 @LMSChairman @pluant Euthanasia has always been illegal in Russia. Homosexuality was criminalised by Stalin. And "trans rights" were banned by Putin three years ago. When Our Lady talked about the errors of Russia, are you sure she didn't mean Communism?

Yes — but only if we are permitted to care for the vulnerable. The direction of travel is to close institutions that respect life and family. The adoption agencies have gone; hospices are under threat; schools are cowed. Counseling services and home-schooling will be next.
Capel Lofft@CapelLofft

The early Christians lived for centuries in societies that thought nothing of the lives of the helpless, weak and dependent: the rule of the whims of the strong, autonomous and dominant was the norm. They had to be lights to the world against that darkness. So will we again

It’s yet another of Starmer’s ‘80-20’ issues which he gets the wrong way round.
Madeline Grant@Madz_Grant

@grant86795 @ayeshahazarika No, the public may be broadly supportive of the right to an abortion but hardly anyone believes in abortion up to birth. (1% according to Savanta Comres poll). 60% of the general public and 70% of women believe that the 24-week limit should be reduced: righttolife.org.uk/polling

@Harri21263Steve In the Commons it was the Corbyn wing who opposed Euthanasia. One day they make the connection with abortion.

@LMSChairman It’s been the case for as long as the various culturally Marxist ‘tendencies’ took control of the Party. Hard to date exactly, but somewhere around the time that Corbyn won the leadership.

@2D0XPS Abortion is a conscience issue, is it not? The bill could have been approved as amended, could it not?

@LMSChairman Because Labour would like the Crime and Policing Bill to go through this session. This is Clause 208 of that bill.

@ilGrand_Inq I haven’t ’gone after him’: someone else did. I commented on the general principle. Do you think the heroic sanctity of every saint in the Apostolic age is part of divine revelation? I pity you, but I’m not going to engage further. Good bye.

Job of @LMSChairman used to be promoting the Latin Mass (TLM I presume) in Britain. Now he has a full-time job (at least on X) rubbishing canonizations; mainly recent ones he dislikes, but once the point is conceded, every one since the subapostolic age becomes “fallible.”
Joseph Shaw@LMSChairman

@ilGrand_Inq @AmericanReform_ ‘Just behind in reliability’ means fallible.

This is serious. Catholics who want to be orthodox have got to drop this nonsense about canonizations being infallible. Is the heroic virtue of Escriva part of the Deposit of Faith? Get a grip.
Forty Days@fortyhigh

@pluant God forbid we end up with a spectacular counter-example and the rigid insistence on infallibility leads souls to apostasy! Can you imagine if Maciel had died in the late 90's and been rushed through in the last years of JPII?

@LMSChairman The Thomas excerpts quoted by @AmericanReform_ support the distinction I’m trying to make: canonizations don’t add to public revelation but they are just behind that in reliability.

@LMSChairman if the Church erred on Escriva, who is to say they didn't err on any other canonization. There is either a finality of process or we are protestants.

@LMSChairman @LordMazdamundii The Church has not only the power to define infallibility doctrines of divine faith (i.e., that are divinely revelated), but it has also the power to define infallibly doctrines of ecclesiastical faith (e.g., dogmatic facts, etc.).

The Vatican’s Appeals court declares a mistrial in the trial that led to the conviction of Angelo Cardinal Becciu. They ruled that both Pope Francis and Vatican prosecutors made procedural errors that nullified the original indictment and have ordered a new trial. Wow, massive blow to Pope Francis’ legacy.
