Been an All Star. Been a gold medalist. He’s done all this as a hard hat, lunch pail, steel toe boots type of player. This guy gets to shine one night on the offensive end. This applies to everything now. Music, film, TV, sports. The gravitas is gone. And it’s not because the talent is lesser. Media is fragmented, and so, we rarely have shared moments — which create that feeling. Instead, everyone just exists in their own algorithmic feed.

There’s an interesting case study to be had about nothing in sports feeling legendary anymore. I don’t think it’s a nostalgia thing at all, I think it’s the rise of social media and accessibility so we move on from everything immediately.

During Season 3 of The Wire , Robert Wisdom (Bunny Colvin) and Andre Royo (Bubbles) gathered the black actors together for this amazing picture. “We were just shooting the breeze one day and just marveling at the full array of talent that was coming together. This was the third year, and we came up with the idea to document this moment.
