The governor of the @ReserveBankZIM Governor John now says there will no longer be fixed, hard and fast 2030 deadline for ending the multi-currency system and rolling over to a ZIG monocurrency. I saw this coming. In fact the RBZ’s attitude was no longer consistent with that of the ministry of finance. If you paid attention, during the budget seminars, PermSec @GGuvamatanga said that the 2030 deadline was not even the initiative of the government, but an outcome of lobbying by the private sector, including CZI. It’s good that there is alignment now between the finance ministry and RBZ. It would be foolhardy to continue with a hard deadline when the majority of market transactions are nominally in USD.
