To improve its operational flexibility LNER A1 Class Pacific Tornado is having a corridor installed in its Tender.

Current projects in the Kirby Misperton workshop. Gresley TTO 43654 - main contract project. Gresley TK 23896 - LNERCA owned and subject of major fundraising appeal. We hope to restart work on this soon. Thompson CL 88339 - LNERCA owned and currently having some electrical work.

The fantastic new is that we have recently passed the half way mark with over £40k already pledged for the restoration of 23896. Many thanks to the generous sponsors so far.

@TeakSawdust @adipullenLNER @RailwayCorresp1 Photo from the Harris book. As built in LNER scumbled teak livery to match standard teak bodied carriages. The lining applied in the same position as if it had mouldings, but of course as all steel construction, the sides were flush.

First gangway now in place on 189 since around 1927 when it was withdrawn from service. Some adjusting and final fixing to do. On the interior work progressing well and is now starting to look really special. The blind covers have had gold leaf applied and now refitted.

1903 NER autocar. The first use of an internal combustion engine to power a rail vehicle (originally petrol electric, now diesel). Marvelous.
