500. Days. Nights. Drama. Tragedy. Crying. Some moments of joy. Since another world began. Today President Zelensky arrived on Serpent Island, where a few extremely brave, heroically brave Ukrainian soldiers told him - under the threat of "you will be destroyed if you don't surrender your weapons" - the historic words to the Russian ship Admiral Moskva in the Black Sea: "Russian warship, go f*ck yourself!" - "Russian ship, go to hell!". That's how the Ukrainians showed us that they defy death, that they defy Goliath, even as they defended a rock - because that's what Serpent Island is. If we were to translate it into the words of Romanian anthem: "We'd rather die in battle, with full glory, Than be slaves again in our ancient land." They put our verses into practice. A few months later, Admiral Moskva complied. Hit by 2 Neptune missiles, it sank, being one of the most surprising victories of an "almost" naval battle (Sun Tzu says, "The greatest victory is that which requires no battle") in contemporary history. I chose the clip posted by Zelensky, the part where he says, "Thank you all!". Because it's about you, the one who shares. About you who likes. About you who explains to your coworkers why Ukrainian refugees are, for the most part, a blessing for the Romanian State and the ststes that offereed them shelter. About you who donated clothes when they first entered the country. About you who donate for food. About you who go to Ukraine to deliver them. About me. About you. About all of us. Does it sound exaggerated? I can prove that it's not, and the proof is what tens of thousands of Romanians have achieved on my Facebook page. Crowfunding more than 600.000 Euro for Ukraine. And tens of thousands more on other pages and at work. Pensioneers who have donated. Companies. NGOs. Rarely does fate offer us the opportunity to find ourselves in a life-or-death situation and have the chance to choose the right side of history! I also thank you for everything we have achieved so far and everything we will achieve from now on. Because only through perseverance, without taking a step back in the face of those who believe that "the rules can be changed with a club," through constant involvement, Ukraine, and thus the entire democratic world, will prevail. 500 days. They were not in vain. They showed who we are and what we are capable of doing. Us and them. And I can say that I am damn proud of what they and we have achieved! There are hundreds of days to come! No step back! Better dead than a Putinist! Slava Ukraini!
