كان كيليان مبابي سيشفى من إصابته في الركبة بوقت أسرع بكثير لو أن أطباء النادي أخبروه في ديسمبر بضرورة التوقف عن اللعب.
مشاركة مبابي في المباريات السابقة كان محفوفاً بالمخاطر، لأن ذلك كان قد يزيد من تفاقم إصابة الرباط.
هذا كان قد يعرض مبابي لفترة غياب أطول عن الملاعب، وربما حتى فقدان فرصة المشاركة في كأس العالم.
مع ذلك، لم يخبره الأطباء بتحذير واضح، فاستمر في الضغط على نفسه واللعب رغم الألم.
