Unfortunately that’s the only episode imo that really does something new compared to his other appearances that are repetitive and similar imo.

Billy is eager to be useful and to do the right thing, he just doesn’t want to go through the process of learning and only sees the end goal which is why he doesn’t listen to any of the orders given to him by Thomas or Percy.

We know that Charlie doesn’t value usefulness the same way as an average engine because he’s already the favourite engine of the mainland controller, which is why he puts his time into trivial matters like seeing

@Daedalus_medio @No_Samah_24 @SodorPro but their motives are completely different Billy acts up because in his eyes, he thinks hes being really useful and pleasing the fat controller. charlie does it because he cares about how the other engines view him which is why he forces his humour and jokes
