As we file our tax returns today, a reminder that we don't have to do this. The U.S. had no income tax prior to 1913. We still had roads and a military, but unlike today's bloated, extravagant state, we also had a government then that largely fit inside the Constitution.

Remember the globetrotting wars of aggression, the bloated government, the trillion-dollar deficits and the waste as you file your tax returns today and see how much of your hard-earned income Washington takes.

We have to disclose all of our financial dealings and realize how much the government takes from us every year at this time. If voters had the opportunity to fire the politicians who overtax and overspend now - instead of November - we'd have a much smaller government.
