William Shomali, Patriarchal General Vicar, presided over the Mass for the Feast of St. Joseph, patron saint of the Seminary, at the Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation in Beit Jala, concelebrated by the seminary’s priests, seminarians and the faithful.

في ظلّ ما تعانيه البلاد حاليًا ومع إعلان حالة الطوارئ، ستُعقد الزيارة الربيعية لأعضاء لجنة الأراضي المقدسة لهذا العام، والتي كان من المقرر أن تبدأ غداً عبر الإنترنت، حيثُ انطلقت الاجتماعات اليوم الإثنين، 16 آذار 2026، وستستمر حتى نهاية الأسبوع. افتُتحت الجلسة بكلمة ألقاها صاحب الغبطة الكاردينال بييرباتيستا بيتسابالا، بطريرك القدس للاتين، والسيد سامي اليوسف، الوكيل العام، قدّما فيها لمحة موجزة عن الوضع الراهن للكنيسة ومشاريعها الجارية. سيجتمع أعضاء اللجنة مع مختلف مسؤولي المشاريع والمساعدات في البطريركية اللاتينية، وكذلك مع النواب الأساقفة والكهنة في المناطق المختلفة ومدراء المدارس والإكليريكية والشبيبة، بالإضافة الى لقاء خاص مع الأب جبرائيل رومانيلي. Due to the ongoing war in the region and the state of emergency in the country, the spring visit of the members of the Holy Land Commission—originally scheduled to begin tomorrow—will instead be held online from March 16 to 20, 2026. The meeting opened with welcoming remarks from His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, and Mr. Sami El-Yousef, CEO. During the week, Commission members will meet with representatives of the project and social services departments of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, as well as with the episcopal vicars of the different regions and the directors of schools, the seminary, and the youth. A special meeting with Fr. Gabriel Romanelli is also scheduled.

The first phase of a project to establish a permanent youth center in Palestine has begun in Ein Arik under the supervision of the Engineering Office of the Latin Patriarchate, with the support of benefactors. This phase includes the construction of 13 prefabricated units, with plans to expand to 22 in the next phase. The center is expected to serve around 2,000 young people annually, responding to the need for a dedicated safe space for youth activities and camps. Fr. Louis Salman, chaplain and director of youth ministry, explained that the center will serve as the official headquarters of the General Secretariat of Christian Youth in Palestine, “Youth of Jesus’ Homeland (YJHP),” supporting administrative work while hosting meetings, activities, formation programs, and camps throughout the year. He added that the center aims to strengthen young people’s sense of belonging and provide them with a permanent space to serve their Church and community, while fostering their talents and initiatives in a spirit of service and love.
