As part of children’s mental health week, we started our morning writing positive messages and qualities on each others backs! The children were beaming when reading what their class mates thought of them. My favourite quote was “I’m going to look at it when/if I’m feeling sad”💛

In English, we have been looking at the typical features of a newspaper report in preparation for writing our own newspaper articles on the Greensboro sit-ins. To analyse the structure, some children brought in examples of when family members were in a newspaper! 📰

In Maths, we took part in a team challenge to create a square metre to measure the hall. As mathematicians, we estimated what it could be (based off our classroom area) and then accurately measure the base and height of the hall. It was approximately 180metres squared! ⬜️📚✏️

In our Art unit, the children were tasked with creating poem portraits through a continuous line drawing of themselves. We followed the lines to record the poem, ‘I wandered lonely as a cloud’ by William Wordsworth. Using watercolours, we created backgrounds that reflected us!🧑‍🎨

Today, we started our new English unit on ‘The Crown’ by Emily Kapff. Prior to reading the story, the children were tasked with creating beautiful crowns made from natural resources. We compared them to a crown made from rubbish & reflected on the powerful message from the story!
