LSU starter Casan Evans struck out a career-high 15 batters in their 7-1 victory yesterday. He threw 7.2 innings with 110 pitches on the night. His 15 K’s are the most for an LSU pitcher since Anthony Eyanson’s 15 on 3/8/2025.

BYU racked up 22 hits in their 19-2 victory yesterday. This is the most hits in a single game for BYU since 4/21/2023 when they tallied 23.

Grayson Fitzwater of VMI tallied six total hits in their doubleheader sweep yesterday. This included four HRs, three coming in Game 2. VMI currently ranks #10 in all of D1 in runs per game at 10.3.

Charlotte pitcher Chayse Oxborrow racked up 12 strikeouts over six shutout innings in the team’s 14-0 win on Tuesday. This included 21 whiffs, the most for a Charlotte pitcher this season, and the highest team total since Blake Gillespie on 4/25/25 vs FAU.

Oregon State’s Dax Whitney threw 7 scoreless innings in yesterday’s 3-1 victory. This included 17 strikeouts with 10 of them from his fastball. Whitney has allowed just one run in 12 innings pitched between his first two outings.

June 28 marked twenty years since Major Stephen Reich (and 15 other U.S. soldiers) were killed in action in Afghanistan while on a helicopter mission to rescue Navy SEALs. The Shepaug Valley High School graduate pitched the Spartans to a Class S State Baseball Championship in 1987. Shepaug and its baseball program remain reverent to Stephen's sacrifice and legacy - annually presenting the Stephen Reich Memorial Award to a Shepaug senior. The College World Series is full of weird kids. Weird because growing up they've been all in. They've been willing to sacrifice for what they really want. They've been willing to walk alone at times. Their fun is doing things others don't want to do. Look at the bodies and ask yourself if you're on pace to look like them. The majority of kids playing on that stage were simply willing to work harder, sacrifice more and prioritized being good at baseball.
