@TheEconomist warned Americans loud & clear in October 2024. The orange moron came with unacceptable risks.

@AndyNosretep The benefits of coupling far outweigh the demerits. Painful times like this are few & far between.

it's not good that economies are this tightly coupled. Important aspects of a country should not be failing within days of foreign issues beginning. These systems should be more resilient.

This Ramadan made me realize that I no longer feel connected to the religion I was assigned at birth.. I understand myself better, and I’ve come to terms with the fact that my beliefs have changed and no longer align with it 🙏

If Tinubu is truly going to win regardless of whether APGA supports him, then the party has zero negotiating leverage leading to an act of a one-sided generosity by supporting him now. That's not smart realpolitiks. A professor of economics should know this much.
Nigerian Affairs Journal@NigAffairs

President Tinubu is my friend, and I believe he has done well and deserves a second term. I have no apologies about that. My people deserve a stake in government. Tinubu will win with or without us. My party (APGA) won't be fielding a candidate in the 2027 presidential election. - Governor Soludo of Anambra State spoke about the 2027 presidential election during a media chat yesterday

@Tolu__Grey ...or tax payers even. Coventry should set up like our private unis do (driven by profits) without special FG interventions or support. The FG should promote partnerships with local institutions if it must be involved like the Gh government at least.

@Tolu__Grey The Gh government promotes usually as partnerships with local institutions as far as I know. That's a salient point. The FG listing Coventry campus set up as an achievement v. likely has undisclosed implications - some form of subsidies at the expense of local schools...

The point (it appears to be lost in translation) is that the federal government shouldn't list such a "nothing burger" as an achievement. You didn't seem to have a problem with that. The government can aspire to make better improvements in our education sector please.
Tolu Grey 🧃@Tolu__Grey

What we've done in the last two decades shows our aspiration begins and ends at self sufficiency. Else every church and rich man won't own a uni. One, two, foreign schools establishing a Nigeria campus isn't anything sophisticated, and it is certainly not a "win".

So the summary of the Trade deal Tinubu made was to take Investments and jobs to the UK (Zenith, Ebony Life etc) and in return took back convicted criminals and failed asylum seekers to Nigeria. A state visit indeed. Went to eat food in Buckingham Palace and forgot himself. Not surprising, his (adopted) ancestor Madam Tinubu exchanged Mirrors for humans beings.
Home Office@ukhomeoffice

We have signed a new agreement with Nigeria to speed up the return of people with no legal right to be in the UK. This means quicker action against those who abuse our systems while keeping the process fair for those who follow the rules and come here legitimately.
