I elytra-rush and it's one of my favorite Minecraft mechanics, but because I understand why people might not in some contexts I want to bully others into not using it?

@8onfire_yt I do think a neat solution is creating a social contract, similar to what many smps do with netherite and elytra restrictions currently, but being frustrated when parts of the group your in don't want to if you think something unbalances the experience you're going for is normal

@8onfire_yt @Nebula_Zorua I mean, I personally don't give a shit if people use it. I mostly play modded with shit that makes the elytra look like the minecart in comparison, I just see why the grievance would come about in the context of multiplayer. (More particularly in competition especially)

i stopped using minecarts before the elytra was added and i never used horses until afterwards (preference). this is genuinely such a non issue people always bring up. you choose the way you play. if you want to build infrastructure NOBODY IS STOPPING YOU lol

I think 1.9 to 1.11 was the sweet spot, where gliding was cool but without fireworks it could be just another form of transport, one that required building infrastructure

@8onfire_yt You explicitly mentioned mods previously as well, hacking is just a type of mod. I'm just saying most people don't operate on the logic of "it's a sandbox, so what others do doesn't matter" when playing multiplayer.
