No matter one’s feelings towards Kobe, we should all take away one valuable lesson from his life: Be a better person today than you were yesterday. My heart goes out to Kobe’s family for the loss of a father and daughter and to anyone else affected by the devastating accident.

I spent 15 years of my life rooting defiantly against Kobe Bryant. Only today through my tears did I realize how much respect I gained for him over those same 15 years. In more ways than one, Kobe was emblematic of every one of our pursuits to be something greater than ourselves.
