Since the 2020 campaign, Gabbard left the Democratic Party and became a Trump loyalist, in part because she believed Trump would enact her desired noninterventionist (some would say “isolationist”) foreign policy. Gabbard also may have rationally concluded that after her ruthless debate clash with then-Senator Kamala Harris, she had no real future in a Democratic Party where Harris had a leading role.
