Eddy, the NCAA Strike Zone Initiative supports a practical "buffer" or margin of error approach in college baseball umpire review and consistency efforts. The strike zone used by the ABS system at the SEC Tournament was established within the parameters of the NCAA Strike Zone Initiative. The strike zone dimensions were part of the NCAA’s approval process for the experimental rule that has allowed the SEC to use ABS in its tournament in 2026.
