When I close my laptop after a writing session I give it two quick gentle pats to let it know it did a good job. What robots do you subconsciously treat like pets?

@metaphorician @slava__bobrov Those are all really good questions!! First, yeah I think those are clusters of neurons. This is in vitro (in a culture not in a brain). Neurons act differently in different environments in response to things like voltage gradients and signaling factors from other neurons/glia.

@LSavDewberry @slava__bobrov Wow, that's so puzzling! Why does it look like there are more than one nucleus in a cell? Are they not cells but small colonies? And why are the nuclei so busy traveling around along these paths/"processes"? Are they trying to find their right place in a future brain structure?

@metaphorician @slava__bobrov From the YouTube video description: “The neural cells each contain a bright spot, which is a nucleus.” These are moving too slowly to be electrical impulses (called action potentials). You can’t visually see action potentials without something like a voltage-sensitive dye.

Really great career panel to close out a great first neuroelectronic interfaces GRS! Useful insights into building relationships with mentors, supporting and being supported by your connections, and being the best at happiness through helpfulness ∩ selfishness.
