This week our Head of Physics, Zoe delivered a lecture to our students to explore ideas that push beyond the A-level curriculum. From Planck length and quantum gravity to wormholes, dark matter, quantum computing and the mysteries that scientists are still working to understand🧬

Fantastic to see @LUSoM_ mentioned in Parliament last week. As @mayaellisuk highlighted, it’s a brilliant new place for 16-18 year-olds to take A-levels in maths and maths-related subjects - and a joy to hear students who once felt unsupported in their passion for maths now have somewhere they can truly thrive. We recently welcomed @mayaellisuk LUSoM to visit our Maths School and meet some of our students. Our students had the opportunity to sit down with Maya and share their experiences from studying at LUSoM and why they chose STEM subjects for their future, followed by a tour.

We’re delighted to celebrate our Y13 students who achieved awards in the British Physics Olympiad Round 1.  BPhO problems are designed to challenge even the strongest physicists nationally, and these awards reflect excellent analytical skill and commitment beyond the classroom🌟

Last week we took a group of our Y12 female students to Lancaster University for their annual Florence Nightingale Day. The day showcased successful women in mathematics and shared information about the opportunities of studying mathematics at Higher Education @LancasterUni
