@hoopsss @andyhawkington @SportsPeteO For the reason you suggest. Clubs think it’s a shortcut to success and want a statement appointment. Every successful recruitment model in modern football uses data. Not all use the same models. With an intent to build something long term this it’s a shrewd move

@hoopsss @andyhawkington @SportsPeteO That’s a moot point. Brighton’s success wasn’t instant. It would be too early to judge that in most cases as systems take time to bear fruit. Many have also gone to already elite clubs where it’s very difficult to rebuild systems from the ground up or have the influence to do so

@hoopsss @andyhawkington @SportsPeteO Is it though? As back to your original point - someone who’s worked under Bloom wouldn’t be able to take the data with them, but they would be able to take knowledge of the systems built to leverage it

@hoopsss @andyhawkington @SportsPeteO I’d respond in kind by suggesting you also look closer at Brighton’s success in the last 10 years. Data gives them an edge but they still need to: scout, negotiate, develop the player, sell at peak value and plan for succession. Systems have built that success, not just data

@hoopsss @andyhawkington @SportsPeteO Important nuance missed here. Data is widely available in football now. The data is only a small part of Brighton’s success under Bloom and far more down to the systems they built to use that data effectively.

@andyhawkington @SportsPeteO It is down to Tony Bloom becoming owner and giving Hearts access to his data. When clubs steal Brightons head of recruitment and it doesn't work out it is because Bloom has the data. He is king. Good luck to him and you

@LutonTown Impressed by what’s clearly an effort to start communicating more with the fans. Not moved mountains yet but it’s good to see the intent is there.

@LutonTown Good. Slovenia is now tinged with failure and slow starts to the season. Needed to change it up

@_TeamsLikeLuton He had to turn around a sinking ship. Took longer that we’d all have liked but the problems were deep rooted. I’d give him a 7 out of 10, but if it leads to us kicking on next season and building something, I’d look upon the job he’s done this season much more favourably

How would you rate Jack Wilshere’s first season at Luton out of ten? 43 Matches: 23 Won, 10 Drawn, 10 Lost. 1.7 Points per game. 7th placed finish in League One. 🏆 Vertu Trophy Won. #teamslikeluton

“Over the last two campaigns, an aggregate of one single point plus a handful of goals have been the difference between success and failure twice.” Talk about putting a positive spin on things. In what world would final day survival last season have been ‘success’?

The scenes at full-time on Saturday showed the clear connection that exists between this club, this manager and his staff, this squad, and our supporters – something which will be critical to maintain as we seek to carry momentum throughout the summer and into 2026/27.

@bwfc_elliot Context is important here. We’ve had 2 years of abject failure and disconnect with the fanbase. Jack and the players fought hard to turn that around over the past few months and almost make the playoffs after an incredible run and a trophy win. That deserved recognition.

They stood still on the pitch for about 15 minutes doing absolutely nothing while thousands of Bolton fans waited for them to get off. Told several times by the announcer to get off and they still remained Incredibly disrespectful. Lost a lot of respect for Wilshere there

The first thing @LutonTown can do to show they’re listening to the fanbase and learning from mistakes is to announce the retained list of players early this time around. Getting business done early requires knowing which players we’re going forward with and where the gaps are

@joe_carterr @TheLastAdept You didn’t though. At least not in the automatics which is where you were at the time of this game. Ended up scraping into the playoffs and with an illegitimate ‘goal’. Know anything can happen but have to say of all the playoff teams, Bolton look streets ahead of the rest.

How are Stevenage anywhere near the top of the league btw? It’s their cup final today and they’ve not fashioned a meaningful passage of play in the first 45.

@ReeceDSport Even this angle, which is the one being used to suggest it was over the line, is nowhere near conclusive. A Stevenage fan would look at this and say it looks over, a Luton or Wigan fan would say not. The point is the whole ball must be obviously over the line to give the goal

@LutonTown We beat a very good team away from home today and can’t ask for more than that on the day. This form over 46 games wins the title. The damage was already done. Means nothing if we don’t back Jack in the summer and build on it, but proud of how we’ve ended the season

@LutonTown Bolton are comfortably the best side I’ve seen us play this season. No shame in not winning this. Unfortunately the first 2/3 of the season will be our undoing if we don’t make it.

@_danhayward01 It’s kind of nice to be going into this as an outside shot. We can watch with some hope rather than expectation and know that if we don’t make it we’ve given this run in a right go.
