@1_800_4_probs @MadSciDorn I Am Legend is mid at best but is greatly improved by the alternate ending included on the DVD (which was more in line with the book)

Just replayed the Legendary Edition. Gameplay is kinda janky (it is almost 20 years old) but setting, story and characters are top notch.

Mass Effect 1 is such a special game. There’s a conviction and a raw energy to it that the rest of the saga never quite has in the same way. It feels like the fascination of someone who has just discovered fire, almost as if it were the first video game ever made. #MassEffect

This is the same thing with stop motion from the 70s/80s. Crazy fantastical shit is *supposed* to look weird and janky!
My favorite example is the T-800 endoskeleton at the end of Terminator--way creepier because it's movement is so unnatural.

Man, there’s something super endearing and awesome about movies from the 90s having clunky effects work, but the look is so stylized & there’s a clear visual identity that it works and enhances the vibe of the movie. Soldier Mortal Kombat Alien3 Etc
