Half of Barnsley's team made of trialists, Brentford had to win to qualify for the PDL playoffs which they did.
Caught freezing with a light jacket on May 5th, just like Barnsley's defence with a few balls over the top.
🐝I liked Benjamin Arthur as CB, well positioned and good in the air. Riley Owen less influential than vs Birmingham when I last saw him. Maghoma with more runs in behind as a second striker. Good footballers who likes his football imo, I prefer Owen who keeps it moving. Brierley with good crosses. Konak better than vs Birmingham City, racking up second balls. Romelle Donovan with a nice solo goal which isn't an easy feat especially when you need to carry the ball on 40 yards whilst sagging.
Josh Stephenson at LB then CB for Brentford. Moved from Millwall last summer for a few millions. There's flashes, range of movement and a few line breakers, receptions between the lines. Modern profile for sure. But I also see him making a meal of some situations, think English breakfast and sausage passes. I've seen him excellent vs Chelsea in the FAYC last season though.
Trialist is a Jayden, which might not narrow the list too much 😐 when it comes to Academy footballers.
⛏️For Barnsley, Josiah Dyer, whose dad played in the 90s tried to make the most out of being the only non trialist in the attacking half. A few flicks and inspired layoffs.
I liked the #17 Luke Alker wirh some nice touches and able to find space
Not a tremendously thrilling afternoon of footy, Brentford finishing the game baiting a press that never came so off I went to buy a £2.75 Brentford calendar.
Possibly some Red Arrow fighter jets seen (more like heard) at full time.
