@maraantonoff I would also add that while it may be difficult, it is critical to communicate any unexpected complications or adverse events to referring providers as soon you as you are aware. They should not learn about these from patients or family members...this will build their trust.

@LaPar16 T2 The long term relationships come from great communication and superb outcomes. Be the kind of person that others will want to keep calling over and over. Be the caring physician whose patients thank their provider for sending him/her to such a terrific specialist. #CTcareers

@maraantonoff I agree with Mara that establishing a close relationship with your mentors and senior partners is key for your growth as a surgeon.

@LaPar16 T1: For complex cases, I find that it’s helpful to have my own plan in my mind, but then run it by a senior partner or seasoned confidant. It’s important to have my own plan before I seek their advice, or else I will never grow. #CTcareers
