Growing up, I was never given the opportunity to be around guys or interact with them.
My dad was overly protective.
If he ever saw me with a boy, he’d beat me, no matter what.
I was even enrolled in an all-girls school.
At the time, I hated it.
I felt isolated. Restricted.
Then I lost him during my Junior WAEC.
But looking back now…
I realize something.
The fear he instilled in me stayed.
His words kept echoing in my head.
And somehow, that fear saved me from situations I could have fallen into out of naivety.
Now I have a younger sister looking up to me.
I wanted to recreate that same level of protection…
but I couldn’t.
Because I remember the pain of feeling isolated.
So now I’m choosing balance.
I’ll give her the phone she worked hard for…
but I’ll stay involved.
I’ll guide her.
I’ll monitor what needs to be monitored( through my laptop)
Not because I want to control her…
But because the world is not as innocent as she is.
There are too many hidden dangers.
And a phone can be a gateway to both good and bad.
I just hope I’m making the right decision.🤦♀️

My junior sister has been begging me for a new device since she entered senior secondary school. I didn’t want to get it for her yet, but I also didn’t know how to say no… so I gave her a challenge: “Take first position in your class.” She’s always been 3rd. This girl went all out… and came back with 1st 🥇 Now the phone is already in my hands. But I’m scared to give it to her. Because from my own experience as a teenager, having a phone almost ruined me and affected my academics. And let’s be honest… the internet isn’t a safe place. There are things she’s not ready for. There are people she shouldn’t have access to. Now I’m stuck between rewarding her hard work and protecting her from what I know. She’s surrounded by my brothers, so I know she’s not alone… But still. Should I give it to her and monitor everything… or wait a little longer?

Same sacrifice would be made in forex but the outcome is the obvious... Which is blowing the account and now left with no phone!
I'm not trying to discourage anyone looking to go all in forex. But just know that the odds are always never going to be in your favor until you have proper understanding of what you're getting yourself into.
Also mastering acceptance of losses because it is where most tragedies tend to occur, whereby you're trying to make those losses back.

In 2023, my friend sold his phone to pay for an application fee. Everyone laughed at him. “Why would you sell your only phone just to ‘japa’?” For weeks, he went offline. No WhatsApp. No Instagram. Nothing. We thought he made a mistake. 3 months later, he came back… with a visa. Turns out, while we were scrolling, He was borrowing laptops, using cyber cafés, and refreshing his email like his life depended on it. Today, he sends money home every month. The same people who laughed now ask him, “Abeg link me up.” Funny how sacrifice looks like stupidity… until it works. If you’re chasing something bigger, get used to being misunderstood. Not every smart move appears smart at first glance.
