🎉We are excited to announce that a research team led from Menzies @UTAS_ has been awarded $3 million by the National Health and Medical Research Council @nhmrc to establish the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Centre of Research Excellence.

Great to see Tram's paper online showing that rTMS increased interneuron activity following demyelination and increased remyelination by new and surviving oligodendrocytes. Thanks to coauthors including @DrCarlieCullen , @AlastairFortune , @LauraReale12 , @Tomlewis2310 .

We look forward to starting work on our NHMRC Ideas grant with @FletcherJL, @nickomatics, @BradASutherland and @BruestleLab. Together we will find out how MS-associated genetic variants alter brain cell function.

Our project will use IPSCs from the @ResearchMenzies MS Stem biobank. We will make more iPSC lines available through MS Stem as the project progresses.

We’re excited to be part of the new PLATYPUS clinical trial which launched yesterday at #MSResearchConf2023. PLATYPUS, which will test the efficacy of potential brain repair treatments in people with progressive MS, is an extension of the UK's OCTOPUS trial launched in April '23.
