First, we show that connectivity within the DAN at baseline predicts symptom severity following GC-MRT, a form of attention bias modification. The effect was specific and did not replicate in other functional networks or SSRI treatment.

Preliminary results from our lab, testing a novel intervention for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The paradigm is based on memory reactivation frameworks studied in our lab for over a decade, whereby brief reactivation of a consolidated memory induces a transient window of plasticity during which the memory trace becomes amenable to modification. Immediately following reactivation of the traumatic memory, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is applied to modulate a cortical-hippocampal network, individually identified for each participant using resting-state fMRI. The findings demonstrate a significant reduction in PTSD symptom severity, including a decrease in the frequency of intrusive traumatic memories. Changes in functional connectivity between the cortical stimulation target and the hippocampus accompany these clinical improvements. Following this proof-of-concept study, a comprehensive randomized controlled clinical trial is now being performed in the lab. The study was spearheaded by @OrDezachyo, a PhD student in the lab, in collaboration with Prof. @IdoTavor and Prof. Yair Bar-Haim groups, and Dr. @HaggaiSharon from Ichilov Medical Center.
