If it is true that these three names were submitted yesterday for the vacant position of Deputy Governor in Kano State, I believe Murtala Sule Garo will be selected. He is a politician with a strong grassroots structure across all 44 LGAs, and he is the only person capable of giving the opposition a serious challenge. In fact, they have been hoping he will not be chosen.






KANO IS WORKING — AND IT MUST KEEP WORKING This is no longer about promises. This is about results. Kano State is undergoing a transformation under the leadership of Governor @Kyusufabba that is not only visible but also measurable and undeniable. Strategic Budgeting for Impact The ₦1.368 trillion 2026 budget reflects a deliberate focus on people-centered development and physical infrastructure: -Education: ₦403.3 billion (31%) -Infrastructure: ₦346.3 billion (25%) -Healthcare: ₦212.3 billion (16%) This allocation underscores a governance model anchored on long-term human capital development and economic expansion. Education: Expanding Access, Raising Standards The administration has repositioned education as a cornerstone of development: -Recruitment of over 6,000 teachers, with 2,000 volunteers fully integrated -Massive rehabilitation of classrooms statewide -Distribution of over 789,000 school uniforms across 7,000 schools -50% reduction in tuition fees for state-owned tertiary institutions -Revival of foreign postgraduate scholarships, benefiting over 2,000 students -Kano emerged 1st nationwide in the 2025 NECO SSCE, with 68,159 students achieving five credits including English and Mathematics Healthcare: Strengthening Systems, Saving Lives Significant investments have improved access and service delivery: -Surpassed Abuja Declaration funding benchmark -Recruitment of 500+ healthcare workers -Establishment of the Kano State Centre for Disease Control (KNCDC) -Free caesarean section services in public hospitals -Upgrade of over 200 primary healthcare centres across all 44 LGAs -Infrastructure & Grassroots Development: Taking Government Closer to the People Progress in infrastructure is visible across the state: -Reconstruction of over 100km of urban roads -Rehabilitation of critical water supply systems -Deployment of 500 electricity transformers across LGAs At the local level, councils have delivered: -Rural roads and electrification projects -School and administrative building renovations -Boreholes, public sanitation facilities, and health posts Additionally, over ₦15.6 billion has been approved to settle outstanding entitlements of former local government officials—reinforcing the administration’s commitment to fairness and accountability. Agriculture: Supporting Farmers, Securing Food Systems Agricultural interventions have focused on empowering smallholder farmers: -Distribution of over ₦1 billion worth of fertiliser to 52,800 farmers -Launch of the ₦16 billion Jakara Dam irrigation project -Support for over 477,000 farmers under KSADP, -surpassing initial targets To enhance safety, the government has adopted a localized security model: -Recruitment and training of thousands into the Neighbourhood Security Outfit -Ongoing construction of standardized security headquarters in 36 LGAs -Focus on intelligence gathering, early warning systems, and rapid response - Governance: Transparency and Performance Institutional reforms have strengthened governance: -Improved procurement processes and oversight -Revival of abandoned projects -Increased capital expenditure, particularly in social sectors -More than double the investment levels recorded before 2023 Kano is working. -SBJ
