No reason why anyone but me should care, but tonight's London Tide will be my 500th performance @NationalTheatre. If you'd told me that during my struggle-bus 30s, there's no way I'd have believed you. Still feel like a competition winner.

Why are we so obsessed with crime narratives? So many novels, 90% of British TV dramas. They're great! But there are other vehicles for telling compelling stories...

Actors. If you sign a contact or release form with 'in perpetuity' on it it's theirs to use forever. Maybe if you were going to be paid 100k it might be worth considering, but generally it's a really bad idea, especially if it includes television. #know your worth

@DanielYorkLoh Yeah, TV doesn't have enough Kanes. Or any. Nor does theatre. In the UK anyway. She's still the best of the last 30 years

So much of my work and practice is based around Sarah Kane - especially since I started working with students a bit. What she wrote was pure theatre. I can’t even imagine her in a TV writers room (though perhaps we SHOULD imagine that)
