🆘🆘 LEO (ID 245409), 4 YO, MALE – IN QUEENS ACC - came into the shelter as an owner surrender on 1/27/2026, with the surrender reason stated as animal circumstance - not spayed/neutered. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿 🆘🆘 LEO WAS “RESCUED” ON 2/19 BUT APPARRENTLY THAT RESCUE DID NOT MATERIALIZE – SO HE IS NOW BACK ON THE EPL – BEYOND URGENT -ALL PRIOR PLEDGES REMAIN IN FORCE – PLEASE HELP LEO, IF YOU CAN 🆘🆘 ➡️TBD 3/12/26 ➡️ TOO LOW ON PLEDGES TO STIMULATE RESCUE INTEREST ➡️ 🆘🆘 3RD Chance on Emergency Placement List – NO ROOM IN SHELTER – WILL NOT BE GIVEN MUCH MORE TIME – VERY HIGH EU/SILENT KILL RISK– 🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱 ➡️ 45 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➡️ LEO IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL AND MEDICAL REASONS - He is not thriving in the care center and is deteriorating in the Adoptions room. Although hissing and tolerant initially, Leo no longer allows petting or handling. Medically, Leo has chronic skin issues that will require management. In kennel he is very stressed and does not allow much treatment, however on intake he was social, soliciting attention and allowing medical handling. It is possible that he will allow medical management in a different low-stress environment. “Deteriorating in the Adoptions room” coupled with this medical condition and the fact that he has been returned to adoptions list means that LEO will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 What my friends at ACC say about me: Leo is not open to interaction at this time and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. Because his previous owner reports he is eventually friendly, affectionate, and allows handling (pick up and being held), as well as being brushed in a home environment, we believe the behavior seen in the care center is shelter-specific and this cat would make a great pet, but is really struggling in the shelter environment. This cat is suitable for adopters with previous cat experience who are willing to work with a cat who needs time and patience to help him/her adjust to their new home. Leo is a heartbreakingly handsome tabby boy with warm amber eyes and the most charming feature - one perfectly crinkled ear that gives him an irresistibly unique look. He arrived at the shelter eager for affection, greeting everyone with gentle head‑butts and sweet curiosity. Now, Leo is finding the shelter environment too stressful at this point in time and prefers to hide in his cubby. He is the kind of cat who needs time, patience and a peaceful home to feel safe again. With space to decompress, his true nature can shine the way it did on day one. Whoever gives this handsome, crinkle‑eared cutie a chance will be rewarded with a very special and uniquely-eared companion.❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻 NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP – Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one. @AdamsPaulGrimke 💔😿🙏Thank you

I think my cat is a secret @joehendry fan. Every time I wear his shirt, my cat steals the shirt back and has a nap on it, and it's the only shirt of mine he does it with. ... At least the cats got good taste!

🆘🆘 PANTHA (ID ), 9 YO, MALE – IN QUEENS ACC - came into the shelter as an owner surrender on 12/27/2025, with the surrender reason stated as animal behavior - aggressive towards people. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿 ➡️TBD 3/21/26 ➡️ SENIOR ALERT ➡️ TOO LOW ON PLEDGES TO STIMULATE RESCUE INTEREST ➡️ 🆘🆘 3RD Chance on Emergency Placement List – NO ROOM IN SHELTER – WILL NOT BE GIVEN MUCH MORE TIME – VERY HIGH EU/SILENT KILL RISK– 🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱 ➡️ 83 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➡️ PANTHA IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS – He is not thriving in the care center and has begun to deteriorate in the Adoptions room. He is now at times displaying signs of frustration and over stimulation during cage cleanings and during some interactions. A “DETERIORATING IN THE ADOPTIONS ROOM” designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Pantha interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. Although Pantha is showing level 2 behavior here in our care center, due to a multiple scratch & bite history the behavior team is recommending he goes to a single-pet, adult only home with experienced cat parents. The behavior team believes that Pantha has the chance to thrive with the right cat parents and ideally in a quiet, low-traffic home with daily mental and physical stimulation provided. A volunteer writes: Pantha is a handsome tuxedo cat who does not play well with children. He can be fearful when meeting strangers, but may warm up with time. He can be prone to becoming overstimulated, so that is something his future parents will need to be on the lookout for. In the shelter, Pantha has been described as social, sweet, affectionate and people oriented. He can be unsure of his surroundings. He needs experienced cat parents who will treat him gently. Because of his history of playing roughly with kids, he needs to go to a home which does not include young children. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻 NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP – Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one. @AdamsPaulGrimke 💔😿🙏Thank you

When she is welcoming of attention, she allows petting and handling and enjoys puree treats as a reward. Despite her positive interactions at times, it is in her best interest to move out of the kennel environment and into a stable home as quickly as possible. She would do best in a home with adopters who are willing to give her plenty of time and space to adjust, and who have experience with helping a fearful or sensitive cat adjust to strangers. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 I lived with children in my previous home. Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy! I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace. I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you. What my friends at ACC say about me: Autumn was sitting up at the back of the kennel with her head and ears forward, focused on the assessor with a neutral body and eyes. When offering treats on the scratcher tool, she lowers her head and leans forward to sniff and then she leans back and sits up when reaching close. She leans in for cheek rubs, remains calm when petting her head, and walks forward to eat treats initially offered when stroking her body. She sniffs the tool again, leans in hard for cheek rubs, rubs her face on the den, walks to the front to greet the assessor, ignores treats offered, and then pokes her head out of the kennel to scan the environment. Pick up was not attempted in order to reduce stress. After closing the door, she eats the leftover treats. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻 NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP – Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one. @AdamsPaulGrimke 💔😿🙏Thank you

When staff lift the den cover to check on him, he responds with hissing, lunging, and swatting. When a scratcher tool is presented, he growls and avoids interaction. Given these behaviors, it is in Mystic’s best interest to transition out of the kennel environment and into a stable home as soon as possible, as he does not appear to be thriving in the shelter setting. Medically, he appears healthy at this time. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Meet Mystic 🖤 Mystic is a quiet, independent adult cat who is looking for a calm, adult-only home. He can be timid and skittish, especially in new situations, and will need time and patience to adjust to a new environment. He is not aggressive but prefers space when he feels unsure. An experienced adopter who can move at his pace, offer high-value treats, and use gentle positive reinforcement will help him build confidence and trust. With understanding and a peaceful home, Mystic has the potential to slowly blossom into a rewarding companion. Mystic is an adult cat that may not have had many interactions with humans from an early age. He is very apprehensive of people and while showing no aggressive behaviors, she does attempt to flee and avoid human contact. It is difficult to predict if he will respond to socialization but we recommend offering high value treats and food to help build a positive association to humans. Please be mindful that older cats will require more time and skill in order for them to be comfortable around people.❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻 NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP – Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one. @AdamsPaulGrimke @mehser12 💔😿🙏Thank you

Hi, my name is Jack and the shelter has been a little overwhelming for me. I came from a home with many cats, who I've gotten along with well. Because I've lived in this home my entire life and have only been around one person, I have little experience with people and am hesitant of new experiences. I would enjoy living in a quiet home, preferably one with lots of vertical space so I have a place to perch and observe the room. I would also appreciate having experienced, patient adopter(s) who are willing to take things slow with me. I would benefit from socialization, using rewards whenever I make a small positive step like making eye contact, allowing petting, or sniffing your hand. I'd prefer to take things at my own pace and would appreciate some good old fashion TLC. If you can open your heart to adopt a cat like me, I'll hopefully have the confidence to come around to my new people, like you! ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻 NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP – Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one. @AdamsPaulGrimke 💔😿🙏Thank you

He has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Stormy is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to swat and scratch in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time. 💔😿💔😿💔😿 NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP – Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one. @AdamsPaulGrimke 💔😿🙏Thank you

🆘🆘 AUTUMN (ID 256370), 5 YO, FEMALE – IN MANHATTAN ACC - came into the shelter as an owner surrender on 1/27/2026, with the surrender reason stated as animal behavior - aggressive towards people. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿 ➡️TBD 3/17/26 ➡️ NEW HOPE PARTNER RESCUE ONLY ➡️ TOO LOW ON PLEDGES TO STIMULATE RESCUE INTEREST ➡️🆘🆘 7th Chance on Emergency Placement List – ON BORROWED TIME – SHELTER AT CAPACITY- NOW IS THE TIME TO ACT/HELP AUTUMN - HIGHEST EU/SILENT KILL RISK –🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱 ➡️ 48 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➡️ AUTUMN IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS -She has a severe bite/scratch history and may display signs of confliction, overstimulation, or pet-induced aggression in the shelter environment. I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming, but when it's just you and me and some peace and quiet you'll see what a love bug I am. I am looking for a home with a patient person.
