The behavior team believes that Pantha has the chance to thrive with the right cat parents and ideally in a quiet, low-traffic home with daily mental and physical stimulation provided. A volunteer writes: Pantha is a handsome tuxedo cat who does not play well with children. He can be fearful when meeting strangers, but may warm up with time. He can be prone to becoming overstimulated, so that is something his future parents will need to be on the lookout for. In the shelter, Pantha has been described as social, sweet, affectionate and people oriented. He can be unsure of his surroundings. He needs experienced cat parents who will treat him gently. She sniffs the tool again, leans in hard for cheek rubs, rubs her face on the den, walks to the front to greet the assessor, ignores treats offered, and then pokes her head out of the kennel to scan the environment. Pick up was not attempted in order to reduce stress. He can be timid and skittish, especially in new situations, and will need time and patience to adjust to a new environment. He is not aggressive but prefers space when he feels unsure. An experienced adopter who can move at his pace, offer high-value treats, and use gentle positive reinforcement will help him build confidence and trust. With understanding and a peaceful home, Mystic has the potential to slowly blossom into a rewarding companion. Mystic is an adult cat that may not have had many interactions with humans from an early age. He is very apprehensive of people and while showing no aggressive behaviors, she does attempt to flee and avoid human contact. It is difficult to predict if he will respond to socialization but we recommend offering high value treats and food to help build a positive association to humans.
