I owe all the ppl who told me not to judge Nolan's Odyssey by the promotional material(even though that's the whole point of its existence) an apology. You were all absolutely right; it was much, much worse than the trailers led me to believe.

Yesterday, I said the Chipmunks were slop in every iteration since they originated with hit novelty songs in the 1960s. The original ‘60s Alvin show was slop, and the 1980s Saturday Morning Cartoons were slop as well. HOWEVER, the 1987 theatrical film “Chipmunk Adventure” is apparently much better than I remembered it being. Disney animation did a pretty significant layoff after the failure of “The Black Cauldron,” and Ross Bagdasarian Jr. managed to hire a murderer’s row of animation talent onto this film. Most of them would end up back at Disney for “Aladdin” and “The Lion King.” I still think this movie is not as good as some of the other standouts from this era, like Don Bluth’s various 80’s and 90’s classics, but it is a beautifully-animated film and it is the best Chipmunk content there is.

I think pissing off the zoomer Disney fans right as they start entering real adulthood and having families probably isn’t the wisest idea, but what do I know?

@BrerOswald This is the thing. Older generations have been able to start familes and share their nostalgia with them. Our generation can't do that because our nostalgia is being torn away before we even had the chance, and that hurts as a sentimental person who values family tradition.
