It’s not a secret that I didn’t have a typical graduation ceremony experience last year (for lots of reasons). I still got to have this moment surrounded by loved ones who reminded me of my worth outside of academia. I am forever grateful for all of you (especially my husband) ❤️

Yesterday, a poor, black, teenage mother from 08105 successfully defended her dissertation to earn a PhD with distinction. Anyone of those statistics could have stopped her, but nah! She said she could, so she did!
