Obanikoro, Sola Giwa, Roberts, Barakat Odunuga, others set to resign from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s cabinet.. Cabinet members of the Lagos State Government, alongside non-cabinet members and personal aides to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, are set to resign as they move to pursue their political aspirations ahead of the 2027 elections. At least five Commissioners, Special Advisers (SA), and Senior Special Assistants (SSA) have already declared their intentions to contest for positions in the House of Representatives and the House of Assembly across different constituencies in Lagos State. Those who have publicly declared their interest to participate in the APC primaries scheduled for April and May include the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mr. Kayode Bolaji Roberts; Special Adviser on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa; Special Adviser on Housing, Barr. (Mrs) Barakat Odunuga-Bakare; Special Adviser on Parastatals Monitoring, Hon. Babajide Obanikoro; and Senior Special Assistant on Tourism, Damilola Ayinde-Marshal. Mr. Roberts is running for Ojo Federal Constituency, while Obanikoro and Giwa are contesting for House of Representatives seats in Lagos Island I and Lagos Island II Federal Constituencies, respectively.
