My first clue this is a scam? We don’t have a DMV in Ohio. We have a BMV.

Joe Motil A Mayor of the People and for the People
City Hall reporter Jordan Laird ‘s headline “Columbus activists want to change ‘weird’ district voting system” is a terribly ill-suited definition of our current city council election system. After reading the article, the Press Release and the group’s website, I found no quote of anyone or the group describing the current city council election system as “weird”. Therefore, it must be assumed that Ms. Laird is describing the district voting as “weird.” Ms. Laird, (like so many others) still doesn’t comprehend that the current city council election system is “unrepresentative” and “authoritarian.”

Wish me luck getting off my unplowed residential street to make it to the mayor’s press conference on snow removal! ❄️

A solidarity message from the Record-Courier News Guild to our Newark siblings in the @dispatchguild : Small shop. Small staff. Small salary. We at USA TODAY Co.'s smallest newspapers know that story all too well.

@vkoganpolisci 👋I reported how city is spending voter OK’d bonds (includes supporting rehab of 1,700 units). I encourage you to submit your view to opinion section for more to see! City is also trying to streamline construction approvals w/ Zone In but that’s not what this story is about.

This @LairdWrites piece contributes to misunderstanding about housing affordability. dispatch.com/story/news/loc… 🧵on what it gets wrong. 1) Main $ issue is (and always has been) maintenance of EXISTING subsidized units, not new construction. Bond does little to address this.

Where are the affordable apartments past Columbus levies supported? I mapped it. It’s important because voters just OK’d $500M more in housing bonds. dispatch.com/story/news/loc…

Jesse Vogel lost the Columbus District 7 city council race by 1,600 votes. But he actually won in the district he was vying to represent by nearly 4,500 votes. From @LairdWrites and I (link below)

This comes a week after Hardin and city council self-introduced and passed $25k for food and challenged the community to respond. So Ginther one-upped Hardin and then didn’t invite Hardin to the announcement or mention council in the press release.

Bit of inside baseball: Ginther announced today $700k to deal with SNAP fallout. Even though council will have to vote on it, Council Pres Hardin was not invited to press conference, had to send his own statement. What does this say about Ginther and Hardin’s relationship rn?
